  Please keep in mind he is under a lot of cult mind control. If you don't want to go through the extremely rigorous, long, draining process of deprogramming him, then just cut your ties and find another good man. Hopefully one who hasn't handed his brain over to a cult.

  Wife's FS report for last month... Zero!

  i could just be reading too far into this but... even with plenty of opportunities and time to go, she didn't seem to make it out last month.

  last night she said she was gonna go out today (the 1st) but... she's downstairs at the moment sipping coffee watching tv.

  a few weeks ago on the long drive back from the assembly we talked about fs.

  I could just be reading too far into this but... Even with plenty of opportunities and time to go, she didn't seem to make it out last month. Last night she said she was gonna go out today (the 1st) but... She's downstairs at the moment sipping coffee watching TV.

  A few weeks ago on the long drive back from the assembly we talked about FS. I stated that I officially have no plans to ever go out again. We Also talked about how ineffective door to door is. I quoted some JWfacts stats (thanks to mr. Grundy) and she was surprised at the figures. I also briefly mentioned how the bible doesn't say we have to preach, especially door to door. Not sure that stuck though. She opened up a bit and said she doesn't believe only JWs will survive the big A. She expressed concern for the billions of people who are either doing their best, or haven't had an opportunity to learn the bible. What I was trying to drive at was how pointless it all is, and how the focus is to place pubs, not teach anyone. She wouldn't admit it.

  So now flash forward a few weeks, and she still hasn't been in FS. She isn't usually stellar (3-8hrs/mo), but usually goes out to "get some time in." Which is also silly if the goal is saving people.

  SO. I know that both of us putting in reports with goose eggs on them will bring the hounders around. She knows I don't want to talk to them. I want to congratulate her on her zero, but know I shouldn't. How do I deal with her guilt? Which I'm sure she has. I don't want to over do it or spoil it. I want her to be okay with defying WT orders! How do I proceed? Advice please...

  i have been "lurking" for about four years now.. it was an incredibly weird experience just to look at a site like jwn or freeminds.

  he came off very loving.. so, i decided that i would talk to one of my elders about the things i read.

  Our situations are very similar. Please don't do like I did and bombard your wife with info about how the WT is wrong! It's useless.

  As far as the issues you listed... You'll just have to do the research and decide for yourself! It's diddicult to learn how to read the bible objectively, without WT blinders on. Once you learn to do this, it's amazing to realize how JWs are unable to understand the scriptures! Sit at the meeting during the bible highlights... And the silly comments that come forth... It's crazy.

  Your story is a good example of how the mind control can be tough to break. You almost did it years ago and it really bothered you, but it didn't quite take. If you haven't researched cult mind control and cognitive dissonance, please do.

  I know what you mean about wanting the WT to be right.. The cost of leaving is so great.

  as some may remember for my intro thread, i panicked and was way too aggressive at first with telling my wife all about this scam we're a part of.

  she freaked, thinking satan had me for sure.

  Sitting Still at Meetings has Become an Impossibility

  since i know the truth about jw, and still have to go to meetings for family reasons (and because i don't want to leave my friends, either) i get so sick in my chair in the hall.

  i can't pay attention, i can't sit still knowing it's all such a waste of time and a big fat lie.

  i get weird symptoms like: the feeling that i'm going to almost pass out, very sweaty or very cold, and weak legs though i'm sitting down, and the urge to get up and run away.

  Yup. Years of mind control is a tough thing to shake. Once you realize and accept it for what it is, the same buzz words that once were used against you, feel like friggin needles. I know the feeling of irrational anxiety before walking into the hall. It's so tough.

  My wife knows I don't believe the bullshit from the platform, but oblivious to the presence of mind control at the hall. Therefore she thinks its silly to get so worked up over it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one, thanks for sharing!

  How does the WT feel about dating methods?

  i'm talking about dating methods that scientists use such as carbon 14, potassium-argon, rehydoxylation dating, etc.... .

  i know that many christian fundamentalist groups speak of how false early dates can be reached by many of these dating systems.

  but i was wondering how much the wt rejects them.

  The doctrines seem to be in a bit of a state of flux lately. Coming from the ridiculous creation book to now, when we have so much more scientific evidence available. A semi-recent WT article admits that 'no doubt, the earth is very, very old' (Paraphrasing of course).

  However I believe it was the same article that talked about the pre-flood water canopy sooo...... They still have a LONG way to go before anyone with a brain will be able to take their creation beliefs seriously...
